This study session was turning out to be a disaster. Marcy's once calm and collected memorization of Spanish vocab had quickly devolved into finding whatever cool words her Spanish-English dictionary could grant her. One more flip, she told herself. Maybe then she could get back to studying.

Yeah. Won't be using that one either. The words she had flipped to were all kind of morbid, and soon she went on another flipping tangent, learning words for bullet, night, and wail, all lovely dark things she would not be impressing any Spanish speaker with unless she wanted to concern them. Her lids grew heavy and she yawned, paling midway as she realized how late it had become while she was busying herself with learning less than ubiquitous
